Gatlinburg Relief Funds Established at SmartBanks
December 1, 2016 – In the wake of this week’s
tragic wildfires in Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains, the
Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce Foundation has established the
Gatlinburg Relief Fund which will directly benefit the families
impacted by the wildfires.
The relief fund is being managed by SmartBank, an East Tennessee-based
community bank with multiple branches in Sevier County. Anyone who
would like to contribute to this fund may either drop off a monetary
donation at a SmartBank location (listed below) or by mailing the
donation to PO Box 1910, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, 37868-1910. Checks
should be made payable to “Gatlinburg Relief Fund.”
Additionally, the foundation is accepting online gifts here or at
“Since the fires began earlier this week, we have been inundated with
calls from people wanting to know how they can help,” said Billy
Carroll, SmartBank President & CEO. “After talking with Gatlinburg
officials, they are requesting that anyone wishing to help, make a
donation to the chamber’s Gatlinburg Relief Fund, where the dollars
can have the greatest impact.”
The Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce Foundation is a 501(c)(3)
organization created to assist the local business community and
citizens through various charitable efforts.

Winter Farmers Market to Return to Boone Saturday
Boone’s Winter Farmers Market Will return on Saturday December 3rd. Several vendors from last year will be returning and a few new ones. We are especially excited about a new produce vendor who has a heated greenhouse and is expecting ripe tomatoes by December 17th.
Patrons will find farm fresh greens, onions, eggs as well as fruit and winter storage crops like potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, squash and apples among the offerings.
For the sweet tooth – honey, baked goods,including gluetin free cookies, jams and jellies will be available.
Local farm raised beef, lamb and poultry will grace the market and a few quality crafters will be on hand.
The market is held indoor the first and third Saturdays from 9am to noon , December through April at the Agriculture Conference Center at 252 Poplar Grove Rd in Boone.

Jones Regional Cancer Center’s 3rdannual Lighting of the Tree Ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 15th from 6 – 7 pm in Watauga Medical Center’s auditorium atrium located at 336 Deerfield Road, Boone, NC. The Lighting of the Tree Ceremony is free and open to the public to honor and/or remember loved ones who have faced cancer, no matter where they were treated.
