More Than 3,500 Early Voters in Watauga as of Tuesday; Democrats, Unaffiliateds Beat Republicans To Polls So Far

Oct. 28, 2014. According to staff with the Watauga County Board of Elections, more than 3,500 people have voted early in Watauga County as of polls closing on Monday evening.

The following is the breakdown of early-voting totals – 3,584 in all – at early-voting sites:

  • Plemmons Student Union at ASU – 1,376
  • Blowing Rock Town Hall – 223
  • Meat Camp VFD – 114
  • Deep Gap VFD – 121
  • Western Watauga Community Center – 202
  • Watauga County Administration Building in downtown Boone – 1,548

So far registered Democrats and Unaffiliated voters are both outpacing Republicans to the early-voting polls, according the online N.C. Vote Tracker, which is a project of the conservative Civitas Institute.

Below is a breakdown of political affiliation from the N.C. Vote Tracker. The numbers include 226 votes by mail and 7 overseas ballots.

  • Democrat: 1,618
  • Unaffiliated: 1,144
  • Republican: 1,027
  • Libertarian: 24

The average age of the voters so far is 53, yet the biggest spikes in the age demographics are in the 18- to 21-year-old categories.

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 29 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 30 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 31 – 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 1 – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

ASU Student Union 

  • Tuesday, Oct. 28 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Oct. 29 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Oct. 30 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Oct. 31 – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 1 – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
