July 26, 2012. Demolition on the old Watauga High School will start on Monday, according to a construction worker on the high school grounds on Wednesday morning.
NEO Corp. won the contract to the project with a bid of $361,750. The facilities that will be demolished include the main building and the health occupation building, the visitors and home concessions, field house, and park and recreation restrooms.
The worker said if anybody would like a commemorative brick of the old school, the company would be glad to set aside some for the public. The deadline for the demolition is April 15, 2013.
