Eggers Jr. Recognized on House Floor by U.S. Rep. Foxx

By Jesse Wood

Feb. 2, 2015. U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx took about five minutes on the House floor to recognize Boone attorney Stacy Eggers Jr.

Eggers is a founding partner of the family law firm, Eggers Eggers Eggers and Eggers. He was admitted to practice law on April 19, 1950 and at the time was one of only four attorneys practicing in Watauga County. Today, Foxx said that he is one of the last attorneys in the State of North Carolina who didn’t attend law school.

“On March 20, Stacy will be 91 years old but hasn’t let age slow him down one bit. He still goes daily to his office on West King Street, where he has been continuously practicing law since 1950,” Foxx said.

She noted that in 1996 Eggers Jr was inducted to the N.C. General Practice Hall of Fame and earned the Liberty Bell Award in 2008, which handed out by the young lawyers division of the N.C. Bar Association to “an individual who has strengthened the American system of freedom.”

Foxx noted that the Eggers family is among the most respected families in Watauga County.

Describing Eggers Jr. as “a man of few words but with great wisdom,” Foxx said that Watauga County is privileged to call “this hard-working citizen one of its own.”
