8:00 p.m.-Closing Live Music: Jimmie Griffith from banana da Terra. MaisCéu is a solo project developed by Jimmie Griffith the composer, singer and guitar player from the band Banana da Terra. The name MaisCéu means “more sky” in Portuguese, and was a wordplay created from Jimmie’s Brazilian/French middle name, “Maciel”. This project started from opening solo for my band Banana da Terra performances which allows me to warm up the crowd, try new ideas and sounds with an audience, get to explore other instruments and create spontaneous loops. All the compositions are a good reflection of my background. I was born and raised in Brazil by multi-cultural parents who taught me the best of American and Brazilian cultures. I am looking forward in recording my solo album soon!

Friday, March 6

Freakin’ Ferkin Friday at Five continues with the release of a ferkin at 5: Compass Rose American Amber Ale infused with Ginger.

8-11 p.m. Live Music: The Mountain Laurels. The Mountain Laurels are a Celti-lachian band from the High Country of North Carolina. The group performs a blend of Americana, Celtic and folk music typical to the roots culture of Western North Carolina. Instrumentation includes violin (or fiddle depending on if you’re from around here) hammer dulcimer, flute and guitar. This seasoned group of musicians has a repertoire that allows the flexibility to perform as a duo, trio, or full band.
