July 11, 2012. Tommie Joe Booher, 38, of Sugar Grove, was arrested yesterday, July 10, and charged with one count of felony larceny of a motor vehicle. Booher is alleged to have stolen a vehicle from the parking lot of Walmart in Boone on June 6, 2012.

Booher was arrested on a Boone Police Department warrant by the Watauga Sheriff’s Department after they received a tip on his whereabouts.

Booher was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate and was issued a court date of August 28, 2012. He is being held on a $6,500 secured bond.

Booher, who stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs roughly 180 pounds, has a long list of offenses and aliases. He was found guilty of a sexual offense (statutory rape) in Putnam, Tenn. in 1995 and is registered as a sex offender with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

He was also arrested twice on the same day in 2009 in Cookeville, Tenn. for driving on a revoked license. Booher was stopped after an officer clocked him doing 44 in a 30-mile-per-hour zone.

Another officer had arrested Booher earlier in the day. He was also arrested on July 26 of the same year, for driving on a revoked license. Booher’s vehicle had invalid license plates at the time he was pulled over in 2009, and his car had three used hypodermic needles and a glass pipe inside. He was issued citations to city court for speeding, improper registration, and lack of insurance.

According to posts at http://www.topix.com/forum/city/cookeville-tn/TVJKIKMOR1E1T5GF1, Booher was a polarizing figure in Cookeville.
