Walmart Robbed Last Night By Unknown Gunman

March 7, 2012.  Watauga County Crimestoppers and Boone Police seek the public’s assistance in solving the following crime:

According to Sergeant Matt Stevens of the Boone Police Department, just before 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, March 7, and unknown man robbed the Walmart in Boone. Surveillance video shows the man, wearing a mask, enter the store and shop for approximately one hour before approaching one of the registers with merchandise. After the clerk scanned the items the man produced a pistol and took money from the register before fleeing on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a gray hat and hooded sweatshirt. He was seen approaching the store from the area of Winter Drive and was seen fleeing behind the Food Lion shopping center. Witnesses described the man coughing and that he seemed “sick.”

Crimestoppers pays rewards for information, which leads to arrests; recovery of stolen property; seizure of drugs and the location of wanted persons.
