Two Arrests Made Following Brief Manhunt in Ashe County Tuesday Morning


May 6, 2020 Ashe County Sheriff B. Phil Howell announced the successful end to an early morning multi-agency manhunt in the Baldwin area which eventually netted the arrest of two suspects on narcotics charges and outstanding warrants. At approximately 5:30 A.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 detectives from the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 400 block of NC Hwy 194 South in the Baldwin community of Ashe County. Detectives immediately, and without incident, arrested the female passenger of the vehicle but the male driver of the vehicle fled the traffic stop on foot, sparking a manhunt. Law enforcement officers from the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, the West Jefferson Police Department and the Jefferson Police Department immediately responded to the scene and set up in strategic locations in an attempt to contain the suspect in the area.

Car Break-Ins on the Rise; Boone PD Asking You to Report Suspicious Activity


April 10, 2020 The Boone Police Department has been receiving an increased number of reports of thefts from motor vehicles in residential parking areas. Many of these thefts are occurring from vehicles that have been left unsecured. Patrols have been increased, but your vigilance is necessary. The Boone Police Department is asking that you lock your vehicles, and remove valuables or leave them out of sight. Boone PD Searching for Suspects Following Vandalism on King Street


February 4, 2020. On Friday, January 31, at approximately 12:15 a.m. a solar-powered public trash can on King Street near Mast General Store was toppled and damaged. Surveillance video revealed the damage was intentional, and the public’s assistance is requested in identifying the perpetrators. The suspect was among a group of five people, three females and two males. The suspect white male in his 20’s was seen in footage wearing a yellow ball cap, a grey hoodie with a dark jacket over it, khaki pants, and dark-colored Nike sneakers. After damaging the trash receptacle, the group was last seen walking up a nearby street, Grand Boulevard.
