University Police at ASU Arrest an Individual In Connection to Breaking and Entering at Panhellenic Hall

March 3, 2014. University Police at Appalachian State University have arrested an individual in connection to a breaking/entering and larceny that occurred on campus property early Sunday, March 2.

Alec Christopher Schemmel, a 20-year-old freshman from Mecklenburg County, has been arrested and charged with one felony count of breaking/entering, and one count of misdemeanor larceny related to an incident that occurred at 4:05 a.m. at a residence hall room in Appalachian Panhellenic Hall located on the Blowing Rock Road.

 The breaking/entering charge is considered a felony as it occurred at night.  University police recovered property valued at $640 that was taken from the room.

Anonymous tips made to police led to Schemmel’s arrest.

A $10,000 secured bond was set by the Watauga County Magistrate’s Office. Schemmel’s first court appearance will be tomorrow, March 4. A court date has been scheduled for April 30.
