River North Dance Chicago Premiers Tomorrow Night at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts

Jan. 30, 2014. On Friday, Jan. 31, River North Dance Chicago will premier at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Spring 2014 lineup of the annual Performing Arts Series. 

imgresCelebrated for creating vital connections between dancer and audience as well as presenting gutsy and entertaining repertoire, River North Dance Chicago presents dynamic works that combine athletic prowess and artistic perspective with bold, theatrical flair.

River North Dance Chicago was founded in 1989 and has since grown to become an internationally acclaimed company that embodies a true flavor of “Americana” in its eclectic, dynamic, jazz-based contemporary repertoire.

River North Dance Chicago will perform at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students.

The Schaefer Center box office will be closed Dec. 16 through Jan. 12 and will resume normal operating hours on Jan. 13, 2014. All tickets purchased online during this time will be mailed out on Jan. 13.  

This performance is part of a collaborative project with the South Arts Dance Touring Initiative, involving residency activities by River North Dance Chicago from January 29-31, scheduled across our the university and community. Residency activities and performances are funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

The next show in the Performing Arts Series lineup for Spring 2014 is The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, which will perform at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. 

Orpheus Chamber Orchestra has celebrated 40 years of making internationally renowned music while reinventing the way the world thinks about musical collaboration, education and outreach. Orpheus has made more than 70 albums, including the Grammy® Award-winning Shadow Dances: Stravinsky Miniatures, worked with some of the leading soloists of our time in the United States and around the globe, and commissioned and premiered 34 original works.
