The teenager charged with indecent liberties with a child, kidnapping and abduction after luring a five-year-old girl into a bathroom at Michael’s in Boone in December has been found incapable to proceed to trial, according to court records. On April 14, William Francis Grubb, 19, of Hopewell Church Road, was transported to Broughton Hospital in Morganton, where he will be in temporary custody for 24 hours a day for examination and treatment pending a district court hearing. Three in Avery County Arrested on Meth Charges

Late in the evening on Jan. 15, officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office received information about drug activity at a residence on Turbyfill Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop and then obtained a search warrant for the residence on Turbyfill Road. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. On Aug. 15, 2014 officers arrested 41-year-old James B. Smith, of 61 Everett Clark Rd. in Newland, on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear. Subsequent to the execution of a search warrant on the residence, Smith was further charged with possession with intent to manufacture and sell drugs, possession of methamphetamine and a host of other charges.
