St. Patrick’s Day Blast at Murphy’s with Dopapod and Lost Ridge Band; A Traditional & Progressive Get Down

Dopapod

March 13, 2012. St. Patrick’s Day at Murphy’s is always a blast. This year, New York-based Dopapod and local favorites Lost Ridge are playing. Doors open at 9:00 p.m., and the show costs $5.

Dopapod bassist Chuck Jones dubbed his band’s sound as progressive electronic funk rock and said the band’s collective influences include Medeski Martin & Wood, Lettuce, GWAR, Primus and Emerson Lake & Palmer. Most of the band’s songs are original instrumentals, though it does cover some songs that feature vocals. “We haven’t really figured out a solid genre. We get along well with the jam band crowd,” Jones said. “It sounds a lot like what all of us grew up listening to—a little bit of everything thrown in there.”
