The Walker Center at Wilkes to Host Singer, Songwriter Amy Grant on Thurs. Sept. 10

The Walker Center, on the campus of Wilkes Community College, will present Amy Grant on Thursday, September 10, at 8 p.m. This performance is sponsored by Hardee’s.

This incredible singer, songwriter, and recording artist has sold over 30 million albums worldwide, including one Quintuple Platinum album, one Triple Platinum, and one Double Platinum album, as well as an additional four Platinum and six Gold albums.

At the age of 16, Grant signed her first recording contract and released her debut self-titled album in 1977. By 1982, Grant was a star, winning her first Grammy for Best Contemporary Gospel Performance and two Dove Awards for Gospel Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for “Age to Age.”

By 1985 Grant’s sound began changing – much of her music had a soft rock element to it – and she had successfully crossed over into the mainstream pop market while still maintaining popularity in the Christian music realm. During her celebrated career, Grant has won numerous awards, including six Grammy Awards and more than 20 Dove Awards.

A limited number of tickets are available for this performance.
