“This will be a great evening for fans of classic country,” says concerts organizer, Mark Freed. “Both of these groups specialize in older eras of country music – when country sounded country!”

The concert will begin at 5:00 p.m. with the Adam Pope Band, featuring singer, song writer, and guitar player, Adam Pope. His band, the Rebel Roots, is a high-energy country-rockabilly group based out of Nashville. The band combines the raw sounds and energies of the Sun Record era with the sensibilities of a modern Nashville songwriter. Pope has family ties in Boone and is looking forward to returning to the area to perform.

“We played at the Wooly Worm festival last year, and it was a great time,” Pope recalls. “We can’t wait to get back to the High Country.”

Pope will be performing as a trio, with an electric guitar and bass player.

After The Adam Pope Band performs, The Buck Haggard Band will take the porch, bringing the High Country’s premier classic country band back to the Jones House for another summer of tear jerkers and love songs.

Led by guitar player and singer, George Wilson, the Buck Haggard Band formed about a decade ago to fill a much-needed gap of live classic country music in the High Country.

“There was nobody around the area playing the songs of Buck Owens or Merle Haggard or Willie Nelson,” Wilson says. “We would have included George Jones in our band name if we could have figured out where to put it!”

The Buck Haggard Band includes Ed Main on lead guitar and keyboards, Jimmy Cannon on steel guitar, Tracy Brown on bass, and Greg Russell on drums. “These guys are real pros,” says Freed. “They have a terrific repertoire of country gems, they do it well, and they have a lot of fun while they’re at it.”

Concerts at the Jones House take place every Friday, from the front porch of the Jones House in downtown Boone (604 W. King St.). All of the Summer Concerts at the Jones House performances are free and open to the public. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own chair or blanket to sit in the Jones House front lawn, under the shade of the gigantic maple trees. Concerts take place rain or shine, with the inside Jones House main gallery being used for inclement weather.

The 2015 Summer Concerts at the Jones House series is sponsored by the Downtown Boone Development Association, Mast General Store, Footsloggers, MPrints, Stickboy Bread Co., and Melanies.
