Heritage Hall Theatre in Mountain City Presents ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

Nov. 20, 2014. The ETSU Bluegrass Pride Band will perform at Heritage Hall on Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. The band was founded in 1981 and is currently the oldest program of its kind at any four-year institution, according to its website.

The show will be sponsored by the Wednesday Music Club in commemoration of its 100th anniversary.

Founded 33 years ago in 1981 by Jack Tottle, Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country Music Studies at East Tennessee State University is the oldest established program of its kind at any four-year institution.  This unique program has thrived on the philosophies of preserving the musical traditions rooted in Appalachian culture while at the same time encouraging creativity and development of prevailing styles.  Students from around the globe come to ETSU exclusively to study the music of the mountains in the rich cultural hearth of Northeast Tennessee.

Heritage Hall will present the Johnson County High School Players’ rendition of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” just in time for the holidays. The show will take the stage Dec. 5-7. Tickets for the show are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Another holiday classic, “A Taste of the Nutcracker,” will be presented on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and $5 for students for this classic holiday fantasy story presented by the East Tennessee Youth Ballet.

Started in 2005, Heritage Hall Theatre has been providing the community with quality entertainment for all ages.   The theater itself can hold 388 spectators and is dedicated to presenting a variety of performances as well as hosting numerous community events throughout the year.
