Harvey E. Ritch, 86, of Linville, passed away on June 8, 2014 at the Heritage of Sugar Assisted Living Facility. He was the owner and operator of Everything Scottish in Linville.

Ethel Louise Painter, age 82, of Newland passed away on June 6, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center.

She was born March 4, 1932 a daughter of the late James Daniel and Ida Bell Rodifer Vance.

Ethel was a homemaker and enjoyed art, coloring pictures, rag shakings, spending time with her family, reading her bible and singing praises to her Lord.

She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Newland and had called Cranberry House her home for the past 8 years.

Along with her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her: two husbands, Leon Vance and Charles Raymond Painter; granddaughter, Travis Vance; son, Allen Vance; brother, Ernest “Bud” Vance.

Ethel has left to cherish her memory her: sons, Robert Vance and wife Shelia of Newland, Kenny Vance and wife Penny of Cranberry; sisters, Alberta Edwards of Elk Park, Ruby Davis and husband Fred of Newland, Bonnie Forbes of Cranberry; grandchildren, Robin Greene, Sherry Lee, Shane Vance; great grandchildren, Cayden Lee, Carson Lee, Ashton Vance, Peyton Vance, Dax Vance.

Funeral services for Ethel Louise Painter will be conducted on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Grandfather Chapel with Pastor Dave Atkins and Pastor Ronnie Reece officiating. Interment will follow in the Newland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Saturday evening at the funeral home
